Tory Laing, associate

Photo of ToryIn my career I have been fortunate to have an excellent mentor, who instilled in me that clients require a lawyer who is a good listener, who is always willing to take the time to explain matters and who is able to provide effective solutions to legal problems. I understand the importance of employing these qualities in each of the relationships I build with clients.

I was born and raised on the shores of Lake Huron just north of Goderich, Ontario. It was during my undergraduate degree at the University of Waterloo that I developed a passion for law and business. This passion eventually led to my pursuit of a law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School.

After being called to the bar in 2009, I served clients in Centre Wellington and surrounding areas as an associate lawyer with Wolfe, Smith and Forster. In the spring of 2013 I began working as counsel to one of Canada’s largest title insurance companies. This experience allowed me to develop further in-depth knowledge of real estate law.

I am excited to be starting another chapter with Wolfe, Smith & Forster LLP in association with Nelson, Watson LLP and I am looking forward to serving clients in Centre Wellington and the surrounding communities. My practice areas include real estate, wills and estates and corporate commercial. I regularly assist individuals and businesses who wish to purchase or sell their residential, commercial or farm property or those who wish to refinance. I also regularly help individuals who are interested in starting a business, purchasing a business or who wish to maintain the corporate records for their existing business. My practice also includes estate planning, estate administration, negotiating, drafting and reviewing various forms of agreements and leases.

Involvement in the community is very important to me. I have served on the Board of Directors for the Fergus BIA, have been involved with the Fergus-Elora Rotary Club and volunteered with the Groves Memorial Hospital Foundation.

I have a passion for travel and cooking. Fortunately my husband David, who is a commercial airline pilot, shares these passions. I love to try new food and enjoy experimenting in my kitchen. I play volleyball throughout the year and enjoy camping in our ’86 Volkswagon camper in the summer.
